24-year-old influencer and startup founder, Sarah Uwase, embarks on an emotional journey through her home country, Rwanda, to find out the secret of feminism. She pursues the goal of making her own fashion brand “Wase” successful to be able to integrate even more single mothers, but begins to despair.
Sophie Krieg graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Motion Pictures from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in the summer of 2021 and subsequently realised the project “Women of Rwanda”, which was supported by German fundings called BKM and Hessenfilm. Before graduating in 2016, she spent a year doing voluntary service in the Rwandan capital Kigali and worked for a local NGO. There she met, among others, the protagonist of the documentary, Sarah Uwase.
